Common questions
Questions about the real embroidery.
I´ve got more files than just the embroidery file, what do I do with them?
Those files are added to make your work easier. The .edr file only work if you have Embird. If you don´t and never will buy it it´s safe to place it in the bin. The .txt file is more important don't throw this away. This tells you about the copyright of the embroidery file, what you are allowed to do with it, what colors are used and sometimes some instructions how to do. The last file, .jpg, is a visual color chart. Read more on these files and other information on the colors in the embroidery file.
How can I make the outlines to be nice?
There are several things which depend if the outlines don´t agree with the other embroidery. For instance the bobbin can show white dots in the black outline. You can avoid this if you change to black bobbin, or if the contour thread is some other color use as near this as possible. If the contour doesn't align to the edge of fill you need to do some editing in your embroidery software.
The bobbin shows on the right side. What do I do to adjust this problem?
Most often this depends on which machine you have. Always check if there is too
much dust in the machine around the bobbin and the upper thread trail. Use brush and compressed air.
If you still have problem bobbin showing, check the tension. Either the upper thread is too
hard or the bobbin is too loose. How to correct this depends on the brand of your machine.
On most machines you change the upper thread tension. Just set it to be looser. If you can
adjust the bobbin tension you have to do very small adjustments between the tests. Read the
manual for instructions. The thread should be fairly easy to pull out of the case but if you
hold the thread and let the case hang down it should not be falling down.
If the above doesn´t work, perhaps you have to wait one day. Sewing-machines have their days too.
As a last resort you have to leave the machine for service.
The colors of the embroidery file don't match the colors I see on your site. What can I do?
If you don't have Embird Edtior you have to take a look at the .jpg file or read the .txt file that is attached to the embroidery file. Maybe you can change the colors in your software to see the right colors on screen. Newer embroidery files have structured information in the .txt file, maybe your software can somehow use this to show real colors. Read your manual. For more information read my article about why the colors are strange. If you have Embird you can read how to do, further down.

Will embroidery hoops for Husqvarna designer fit Pfaff creative?
As far as I know you can use Husqvarna hoops on Pfaff CV (Creative Vision) and also the other way around.
If Pfaff CV has the hoop size, exact hoop size, in the list you probably can use one from Husqvarna.
The 10 x 10 cm hoop (4" x 4") does not work on Pfaff, it's not in the list. But I am using the 15 x 24 cm and 13 x 18 cm hoops from
Husqvarna D1 on Pfaff CV and Pfaff Creative 2.0 without any problem.
If you are in any doubt you can ask your dealer.
Questions about the Embird software.
Can I have Embird installed on more than one computer?
Yes, you can. In the LICENSE.txt you find in C:\EMBIRD32 folderthe text says: PERMITTED USES. You may use this Software on a single computer, but may transfer it to another computer as long as the other computer is owned by you and as long as it is used on only one computer at a time.
Is Embird easy to work with and how is the learning curve?
Everything is relative. Of all the software I have learned through the years, Embird has been one of the easiest. Have you ever worked or played with vector files before then I guess Embird will be easy for your to understand. If you have no experience in creating embroidery or pictures the curve is somewhat higher, but I don`t think it is insurmountable. The software is very logic. If you want an area with plain fill you grab the Create fill tool and set nodes around the area. That's it. If you are a creative person you will soon find your own style.
Why have my embroidery files so strange colors in the machine, but not in my computer?
Each and every machine brand has its own color palette. PFAFF has 16 colors, Husqvarna D1 has 29 colors and some much more. When you crate embroidery in Embird Studio the color information will be saved in an external file with the appendix .edr. When you look at the embroidery file in Embird you will see the colors of your choice every time. If you purchased or downloaded a free design an .edr-file will not be included and therefore you see the colors that the particular format has. To get correct colors just double-click on each color and choose the color you want it to be. Save. If your machine has a color screen this will show the colors your format can handle. The nice lilac on the computer is now mucky brown. You have to either look at the computer, print a thread list (highlight the embroidery in Embird Manager, right click and choose Print/Thread list) or type down on paper the order of colors. If you like to have control over which colors actually is saved within the embroideryfile you have to disable the color support go Embird Editor/Option/Support palett files" and click. If you want the support back click this again. Now in Editor you have to right click on every color, choose "Choose color from palett". Choose your brand and then the color you want, OK. Don't forget to save your file.
Can you splitt large embroidery in Embird?
Yes, you can splitt embroidery in Embird Editor. I´m sorry but I have not yet learned this technique enough to answer this question in detail.
I have the Iconizern and my other non embroidery pictures is affected by this. How can I get these pictures back again in their original condition?
If you open Embird in Manager, where it usually starts, you find the Options menu. In this menu you find Iconizer Settings. Here, in the upper scroll pane you can choose which files are going to open with Embird, when you are double clicking on the file in the Browser. In the other scroll pane you choose which files Embird are going to create icons for. Here you must uncheck the picture files jpg, bmp, gif, etc. When you still are in this menu, you must be sure to uncheck the box right down at the bottom of the window that says "Verify these file associations…." this can cause everything on your desktop to flicker when you`re starting Embird.
